The Love of Opals! Beautiful bright flashing plays of many colors. Opals artifacts have been found to date as far back as 4000 BC. The Romans found opals facinating as well. It is believed that opals the Romans had were from mines located in what is now Hungary. These mines have been shut down for many years. In the early 1900's black opal was at first considered fairly worthless. Today they are recognized as some of the most vibrantly colorful and beautiful of all opals. Which can be priced as high as $20,000 a carat. Copyright (c) 2010 Adams Opals & Jewelry Creations. All rights reserved. |
